Completely different? For out-of-the-ordinary experiences in a setting of biblical proportions, Six Senses Shaharut opens in November 2018, south of the Negev Desert and featuring just 58 suites and villas with one Retreat Villa. Designed to integrate into the desert topography and preserve the natural terrain, the villas are built from, and inspired by, local rock and pigments, and the landscaping features cacti and indigenous desert blooms. Six Senses Spa Shaharut includes single and double treatment rooms plus male and female steam, sauna and hammams. On-site attractions include the fascinating Earth Lab, camel stables and an open-air amphitheater. The extraordinary desert setting presents a host of activities from overnight camel camping to extreme sports, hiking, jeep safaris and wine tours.
And to crown it all? The excitement will continue into 2019 with the opening of the regal Six Senses Fort Barwarain Rajasthan, India. Constructed in the 14th century and once owned by Rajasthan royalty, Fort Barwara is being restored to its former glory, led by a team of conservation experts. There will be two restaurants, bar and lounge, two swimming pools, banqueting space and a kids club. Six Senses Spa Fort Barwara, located in the original women’s palace, will feature an extensive Ayurveda program, meditation and local specialties to treat body and mind. The resort is just 30 minutes from the Ranthambore National Park, famous for its tiger population.
Want to spa in style? Six Senses will also be launching standalone spas, notably in the Middle East with the soon-to-be-opened Six Senses Spa Dubai and also Six Senses Spa Manama, Bahrain.
Six Senses Spa Dubai is the first of its kind to offer treatment suites that are each dedicated to a different sense. Opening in February 2018, the spa is located on level five of the Renaissance Downtown Hotel and is swathed in a palate of sand and light naturals. Guests can enjoy a variety of holistic therapies and sensory experiences based on sound, sight, touch, taste, smell and intuition, helping them rebalance their body, mind and spirit.
Entering Six Senses Spa Manamafeels like stepping inside a natural pearl, a source of national pride and commerce for Bahrain. Opening in mid 2018, on the 9th and 10th floors of the Wyndham Grand Manama, the spa is set against a calming theme of the mystical underwater world with textures and materials inspired by the features and curves of the pearl. The spa journey mirrors the different energies of the city life, from the sensory stimulation and movement of the street to the stillness and calm of a quiet park. This achieves spaces that are both relaxing and re-energizing to achieve wellness, fitness and a total escape.
